Unlocking the Secrets to a Successful Accreditation Review

 

EVERY ATTENDEE MUST REGISTER INDIVIDUALLY. 

In the event that more than one participant is enrolled from one location, i.e. a group setting (several attendees in one room), the full title of the organization attending must be spelled out when that group is logging in to the webinar. 

All participants in an educational webinar must log into the webinar room with their full name.

CERTIFICATION POINTS

IPAC Canada Members can now receive an education credit towards their CIC® recertification by attending IPAC Canada educational webinars.

This is to comply with recertification requirements of the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC). CBIC has approved the use of a generic certificate of completion which will be available for download at the end of the webinar.

1 IPU per hour is approved for IPAC Canada webinars.

The Certificate will be available to all participants to download.

Description

Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) in hospitals is essential for patient safety. This presentation will outline key lessons learned and the journey of Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) through the Accreditation Canada process. Accreditation Canada ensures hospitals meet national safety and quality standards through its Qmentum program, which includes on-site evaluations and ongoing compliance with required organizational practices (ROPs). Highlighted will be the new Accreditation Canada process requirements focused on demonstrating sustained excellence in area of: 

  • Patient safety 
  • Healthy and competent workforce
  • Integrated care

Presenters:

Alex KusiewiczALEX KUSIEWICZ is a practicing IPAC Practitioner at Headwaters Healthcare Centre which is an acute care hospital in Ontario.  He has been an IPAC Practitioner, working in hospital settings, for over 9 years. Previously he worked as a Certified Public Health Inspector for over 11 years specializing in Communicable Diseases. Alex holds a Master of Science in Infectious Diseases and Undergraduate Degree in Public Health is Board Certified in Infection Control CIC.  Alex also teaches infectious disease courses at both university and college levels. He also teaches in the IPAC Canada Course in outbreaks, occupational health and emergency preparedness.

 

Annette JonesANNETTE JONES is a registered nurse, graduating from the University of Toronto where she completed both her Bachelor and Masters of Science in Nursing. She also completed a certificate of Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Mental Health. From 2004-2021, she held various senior executive positions at Southlake Regional Health Centre as Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive. During that time, Annette also held an added role as the President and CEO at

Stevenson Memorial Hospital from 2011 to 2014. Annette has been a surveyor with Accreditation Canada since 2017. Annette Jones is currently Vice President, Patient Experiences and Chief Nursing Officer/Professional Practice at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario
