DO NO HARM – Evidence based strategies to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia

 

EVERY ATTENDEE MUST REGISTER INDIVIDUALLY. 

In the event that more than one participant is enrolled from one location, i.e. a group setting (several attendees in one room), the full title of the organization attending must be spelled out when that group is logging in to the webinar. 

All participants in an educational webinar must log into the webinar room with their full name.

New incoming attendees who enter with less than 15 minutes left in the session will not be admitted.

CERTIFICATION POINTS

IPAC Canada Members can now receive an education credit towards their CIC® recertification by attending IPAC Canada educational webinars.

This is to comply with recertification requirements of the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC). CBIC has approved the use of a generic certificate of completion which will be available for download at the end of the webinar.

Description

The objectives of the session are to identify impact and risk factors of VAP; define key fundamental evidence-based practices that reduce ventilator associated pneumonia; discuss strategies to overcome barriers to implementation of the evidence-based practices. 

Presenter

Kathleen VollmanKATHLEEN VOLLMAN MSN, RN, CCNS, FCCM, FCNS, FAAN Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Educator and Consultant Advancing Nursing LLC Northville, Michigan.

Ms. Vollman is a Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Educator, and Consultant. She has published and lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of pulmonary, sepsis, critical care, prevention of healthcare acquired injuries, work culture, and professional nursing topics. She also serves as a subject matter expert on these topics for the American Hospital Association.

From 1989 to 2003, she served as a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Medical ICUs at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She is focused on creating empowered work environments for nurses through her company, ADVANCING NURSING, LLC.

Ms. Vollman serves as adjunct faculty for the CNS program at Michigan State University. She was inducted into the College of Critical Care Medicine in 2004, the American Academy of Nurses in 2009 and a Fellow in the CNS Institute in 2019. Ms. Vollman was appointed to serve as an honorary ambassador to the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses in 2012 and is currently serving as financial director for that organization.
