Disinfectant labels contain  a myriad of information, most of it regulated by Health Canada. This presentation will review what has to be on the label and will discuss how organisms are tested to make it to the label.

Jim Gauthier

Jim Gauthier, MLT, CIC serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor, Infection Prevention for Diversey in North America. 

In this role, Jim serves as an infection prevention and control resource and an industry liaison to support the improvement of environmental hygiene solutions and adoption of science-based best practices.

 Prior to joining Diversey in late 2015, Jim was an Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) for 12 years at Providence Care in Kingston, Ontario.  Jim has more than 35 years of experience in medical laboratory technology and infection prevention.  He has experience across many healthcare areas including acute, ambulatory, behavioural health and long term care. He has provided consulting and shared expertise with infection control stakeholders including schools (teachers, custodians and students), dental offices, healthcare facilities (medical clinics, acute care and long term care), community care, funeral directors, optometrists and public health.

He has delivered lectures and training at many conferences throughout the world (England, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Malta, France, United States and New Zealand).  Jim has also been an active member of Infection Prevention and Control Canada (IPAC Canada) throughout his career, and has served as a board member and president (2012-2014).  Jim has been Board Certified in Infection Control (CIC®) since 1990.
