BACKGROUND
Understanding and Using Research Literature
:  Research utilization is one of IPAC-Canada's Core Competencies for ICPs. This webinar will help ICPs develop some of the knowledge and skills needed to meet this competency by focusing on how to find and critically appraise research literature and  on tips for drawing conclusions from available evidence so that recommendations can be made for practice.   Other aspects of the research utilization competency, such as collaborating with others to disseminate research or evaluation findings, will also be briefly discussed.

Donna Moralejo

Donna Moralejo PhD RN has a background in microbiology, nursing, epidemiology, and infection prevention and control.  She served on IPAC Canada’s Board of Directors for six years and is currently on the board of the International Federation of Infection Control. She led the teams that developed IPAC-Canada's Core Competencies for ICPs and the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Critical Appraisal Tool Kit.  Much of her work now as a professor at Memorial University School of Nursing in Newfoundland and Labrador involves critical appraisal of research and using evidence to inform practice.
