Description of session: Join Roy Boukidjian, the 2019 President of the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) Board of Directors, as he discusses the importance of accredited certification. In particular, this presentation will provide an in-depth look at the value of the certification in infection prevention and control as the only accredited certification in this field. In addition to providing value to a facility or organization, Roy will explain how the CIC® brings value to IPs, and offer ways to promote it.

Roy Boukidjian

Roy Boukidjian, MSN, PHN, CIC, NE-BC, is System Director of Infection Prevention at Dignity Health in San Francisco, California. Roy has Board Certifications in Infection Control, Public Health and Nurse Executive with a Masters in Nursing Leadership from California State, Fullerton. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) HAI-Advisory Committee, Partnership for Quality Care (PQC), and Hospital Quality Ins­titute (HQI) Infection Prevention workgroup which is the quality arm for the California Hospital Association. Roy has partnered with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by co-Chairing focus groups for the reduction of C-diff and CAUTI and presenting in various venues. His work has been cultivated by being awarded the national recognition of Heroes of Infection Prevention by APIC in 2013 and 2017 respectively.
