Vivian LaPointe
I first joined IPAC Canada in 2021 during the pandemic. I had very little understanding of the purpose of the website so didn’t renew my membership. I transitioned into my new role in infection control redevelopment and returned to IPAC Canada in the summer of 2023. When I initially joined, I was unaware of the true value of the website, including the access it provides to experts in various fields. However, since rejoining, I have had the invaluable opportunity to strengthen my knowledge in several critical areas, such as healthcare construction and HVAC systems. During this period, I was honored to receive the Julie Larose Scholarship, a prestigious accolade that provided me with the opportunity to network in person with leading experts. These interactions have profoundly enriched my understanding and have been instrumental in my professional development.
Additionally, my role has expanded as I am now the co-chair for the education committee of the HFDC IG specialty group. This position has allowed me to further engage with experts and peers, fostering an environment of continual learning and collaboration. I am deeply committed to leveraging this platform to enhance educational initiatives and promote best practices within the field. The sense of community and shared purpose within IPAC Canada has reignited my passion for learning, networking, and improving my skills in infection control. This journey has been transformative, and I am eager to continue contributing to and growing within this dynamic organization. I am confident that my experiences and newfound knowledge will enable me to make meaningful contributions to the field of infection prevention and control.
