The IPAC Program Audit Tool (PAT©) is designed for internal auditing of a health care organization’s IPAC program, to verify that the IPAC program standards are being met. The PAT© may also be used as part of an organization’s ongoing quality improvement program and/or to prepare for external audits (audits carried out by outside agencies such as Accreditation Canada). The audit tool has been condensed into a standalone workbook for the convenience of the auditor.

HandyMetrics and IPAC Canada have partnered to transform the IPAC Canada Audit Toolkit into an easy-to-use App. The App is free to members who are affiliated with an organization that provides healthcare directly to patients in Canada.

Stefania Cloutier

When I first joined IPAC Canada, I immediately felt a strong sense of community. At the time, I was new to the infection prevention and control field, working alone in an organization without dedicated IPAC team support. My Chapter involvement made me feel like I had colleagues I could rely on. I felt supported by my peers and gained easy access to resources that were invaluable to my work.

Through IPAC Canada, I also discovered a passion for public speaking, presentation development, and networking. I have been fortunate to serve at many levels of the organization through Chapters, Interest Groups, and most recently, two rewarding terms on the IPAC Canada Board of Directors.

As time went on, I came to truly appreciate the value of this wonderful community and looked up to the more experienced ICPs for their knowledge, volunteerism, and support of one another. Being a member of IPAC Canada, my local Chapter, and various Interest Groups provided opportunities for professional growth and skill development that my workplace could not offer at the time.

The many meetings, networking sessions, and informal discussions have deepened my understanding of IPAC practices and how to apply them in different settings.

I have gained a wealth of knowledge from my colleagues, which has supported my professional growth and enhanced my local practice.

After many years with the organization, I can confidently say that I would not be the Infection Control Professional I am today without the influence of the people I have met through IPAC Canada. The organization provides a platform for us to meet, share, and learn from one another, but it is the dedication of its members, the volunteers within Chapters and Interest Groups, and those who serve at the Board level that truly make IPAC Canada special. The work carried out by individuals and groups who care deeply about our profession, patient safety, and the advancement of healthcare through infection prevention and control is truly inspiring. I am proud of our profession, and proud to be part of IPAC Canada.
