It is well recognized that hand hygiene is one of the most effective measures for preventing the spread of infections within healthcare facilities. Despite this, hand hygiene compliance remains low, and infection prevention and control professionals are always looking for strategies to change the hand hygiene behaviours of healthcare workers.
Just-in-Time coaching is one strategy that has been effective, and may very well be the key to providing consistent, nonpunitive, on-the-spot feedback when hand hygiene noncompliance is observed.
