Antibiotic Awareness Week is November 18 ?EUR" 24, 2019

This year’s theme is Think Twice – Seek Advice.

In Canada, the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases(NCCID) leads Antibiotic Awareness Week (AAW). With funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, NCCID brings together several national and regional leaders in areas of public health, quality healthcare, antibiotic and antimicrobial stewardship, patient safety, and infection prevention and control. IPAC Canada is among the many committed partners in this initiative.

Unnecessary antibiotic use is contributing to a rise in resistant bacteria, making infections much harder, and increasingly impossible to treat. Antibiotic Awareness Week promotes the informed use of antibiotics to help keep life-saving medicines effective for future generations.

Resources for education, social media, and other tools for healthcare providers – and the public - are available at www.antibioticawareness.ca . You can utilize any of the social media posts and graphics verbatim, or tailor them to align with your organization’s messages. Feel free to share the link. Use the hashtag #AntibioticResistance and share your stories.

In support of the global World Antibiotic Awareness Week campaign (also beginning November 18th), we invite you and your team to participate in a global Twitter Storm using the #AntibioticResistance hashtag to put forth a strong Canadian effort for this global call to action.
