Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a global public health issue with an estimated 1.8 million people newly infected in 2017. The Public Health Agency of Canada monitors newly diagnosed cases of HIV through a national HIV Surveillance System, in partnership with all Canadian provinces and territories. This webinar will summarize findings from the most recent HIV in Canada Surveillance report (2017), which was recently published in the Canada Communicable Disease Report (CCDR). Surveillance data will be presented by geographic location, gender, age group, exposure category and race/ethnicity.
