David Erickson

Title: President
Bio: I am an Infection Preventionist for Interior Heath located in Cranbrook. I would like to recognize with gratitude the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Ktunaxa Nation, where I live, learn, collaborate, and work with pride.

I am a Registered Nurse with 9 years in acute care mainly ICU, Emergency and High Acuity Transports. I made the transition into IPAC in Dec 2022 and haven’t looked back.
I enjoy many hobbies and activities such as: woodworking, fly tying, reading, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, and camping with my family of 3 plus a golden doodle.
An interesting fact about me is that I am obsessed with Disneyland since going for the first time in 2023. My favorite ride is the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and also Peter Pan’s Flight.

Daniel Chan

Title: President Elect
Bio: Daniel Chan, who resides on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo Peoples, is the Director of Infection Prevention and Control at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). He established and led the Infection Prevention Consultation Services (IPCS) Program at the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), where he developed a province-wide, consultation-based approach to infection prevention grounded in relationship-building, cultural safety, and systems thinking.
Since transitioning to PHSA, Daniel continues to lead transformational work that reimagines infection prevention and control beyond traditional models. His approach integrates Indigenous teachings and perspectives, with a focus on human-centred, wholistic systems that honour the diverse contexts, experiences, and needs of people and communities.
Daniel’s work focuses on advancing practical, context-driven solutions that strengthen infrastructure, processes, and partnerships across health systems. He emphasizes relational practice, storytelling, and reciprocal learning as essential components of sustainable change, supporting teams and organizations to move beyond compliance toward meaningful, values-driven practice.

Title: Past President
Bio: I am an Infection Preventionist located in Kelowna and employed by Interior Health. I would like to recognize with gratitude the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Syilx Nation, where I live, learn, collaborate, and work with pride.
I have been nursing for over 16 years with the privilege of working in many diverse nursing fields. I have always found myself drawn towards one constant theme, Infection Prevention and Control. The transition into IPAC in 2020, was a natural one for me. My intrinsic motivation to learn, coupled with my passion for educating others on Infection Prevention practices makes me a worthy contender in the fight against the microbes.
An interesting fact about me is my desire to learn how to provide for my family of four in a more sustainable way. What started with growing my own fruits and vegetables has led me to become a: canner, beekeeper (pollination), owner of chickens (free fertilizer and eggs), and maker of our own cosmetic products. Such as deodorant, hair products, tooth paste, etc.

Emma Massey

Title: Treasurer

Bio: I am an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Professional with Interior Health, gratefully living, working, learning, and collaborating on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the syilx Nation.

I began my nursing career in 2004 and have since worked as a Registered Nurse in both Australia and Canada, primarily in Emergency and Intensive Care. I transitioned into my first IPAC role in March 2020 and earned my Certification in Infection Control (CIC) in 2024.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family of four, doing arts and crafts with my children, swimming and boating at the lake, or getting lost in a good book.

Diandra Mark

Title: Secretary
Bio: I’ve worked in infection prevention and control for about 5 years starting off at Vancouver Coastal Health as an infection control practitioner. Currently, I am a Knowledge Translation Leader at the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC creating provincial education resources and learning modules for IPC and frontline professionals. Before IPC, I worked as a registered nurse in cardiac surgery, addictions medicine, and infectious diseases. In my spare time, you can find me watering my 100+ houseplants, birdwatching, or hiking up a mountain. I reside on the traditional unceded homelands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Katie Huynh

Title: Webmaster
Bio: With a background in acute and critical care nursing, I was part of the Clinical Systems Transformation (CST) design team when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The pandemic and its impact really opened my eyes to the importance of infection prevention and control (IPAC). Since then, I have been an infection control practitioner with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. I currently work in community settings, supporting safe, evidence-based practices to prevent healthcare-associated infections. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family and most of all, daydreaming about travelling the world.
